Amazing Gurney Drive family stay!

We stayed in Ascott Penang last weekend and our son had so much fun that he was upset the holiday had to end. This place is really kids-oriented, something not easily available in Georgetown. Most kids hotels are in Feringghi but Feringghi doesn’t have good food. The kiddie pool is great and my son liked playing in the playroom too, and the small slide next to it. There’s a new public space in Gurney Bay just opposite Ascott and the playground there is great too! There’s a nearby mosque for Friday prayers and just take the 101 bus from Komtar or Penang road to get back to the hotel. In-room appliances like bread toaster is super functional. We bought bread and jam and the toaster is a tremendous help for hunger after playing/ swimming! Definitely coming back here the next time we head out to Penang!

We stayed here for 7 weeks from the end of January and had the most fabulous time. I cannot think of a single negative point. The staff were amazing. Courteous, friendly and businesslike at the same time. The location is great for getting about if you fancy walking to the ‘old town’ or the 2 nearby shopping plazas. However it is hot so there’s no shame in getting a ‘Grab’ taxi! The recently opened park over the road is good for a morning walk, or an evening stroll as well. If I could give 6 stars I would!! 😀

The Ascott Gurney Hotel is a very nice hotel. I stayed with my parents in a 2 bedroom suite. It had a well equipped kitchen/dining area with a dishwasher, washing machine, full fridge and freezer and hob. Both bedroom were spotlessly clean and with fantastic bathrooms. The hotel is very well situated with a 15min walk or 5 minute Grab ride to both Gurney Paragon and the Gurney Plaza shopping malls. With lots of eatery’s. There is also a small mall attached to the hotel with a little supermarket, and some cafe/restaurants. Thank you to all the helpful and friendly staff at the Gurney Ascott and I will definitely consider this hotel when I come to Penang again in the future.

My family and I had a wonderful and pleasant stay at Ascott Gurney Penang. It was our first time to this hotel, and I would say that the services of all staff were impeccable and impressive. We were greeted by friendly and professional Concierge at the hotel and check in experience was streamline. The rooms including the bathrooms are very spacious and cleanliness was tip top. We booked two rooms in total for Studio Deluxe Twin for 2 single beds and Studio Deluxe for 1 King size bed. The beds for both rooms are very comfortable as well. In a continous effort towards greener environment, the hotel has implemented filtered tap at the rooms for drinking water instead of issuing plastic bottled water. I would like to praise management team for this as well. During our check out, the bell boy on duty has also helped us to load our luggages into the car. Lastly, a big shout out to Ascott Gurney Penang for making our stay a memorable one.

We loved our stay at Ascott Gurney in Penang. What a great hotel. The staff were always attentive, the room fabulous and the location perfect. We were lucky enough to attend the Earth Hour celebrations and it was a lovely event, the first time we have attended such an event in a hotel. The sustainability efforts at The Ascott are great. Having access to filtered water in our rooms meant refilling water bottles instead of buying more, re-using our towels saved water and other resources. The breakfast service supplied a great variety of food and we were assured of a full belly each morning and the staff that service the breakfast area are friendly and helpful and super quick. Location wise, The Ascott is within walking distance of two great shopping plazas and only a few minutes by Grab /taxi to the downtown core for street art and souvenir shopping. All in all, a great place to stay and we will definitely stay here when in Penang again.
